Stages of Care
Reality Check
The PRC’s first stage of care, Reality Check, focuses on addressing the root of sexual integrity through education. It is a science-based, state-approved Sexual Risk Avoidance (SRA) Education program that teaches young people about personal responsibility, goal setting, healthy decision-making, and the prevention of risky behaviors.
Abstinence is presented as the best way to prevent unplanned pregnancies and contract STIs — and highlights the stability and benefits of a healthy marriage as the appropriate avenue for sexual relations.
The PRC is actively recruiting and training individuals who would like to teach this essential program to teens. Previous teaching experience is beneficial but not required.
Reality Check helps students understand the benefits of delaying sexual activity and childbearing to protect their future goals and foster lifelong relationships.
The alternative to an SRA program is an SRR program — sexual risk reduction. SRR assumes that teens can’t or won’t avoid sexual experimentation and so focuses on the use of condoms and other forms of contraception with a view to simply reduce, rather than eliminate, sexual risk among teens as a “secondary prevention” strategy.
The SRR approach normalizes teen sex even though CDC data continues to show that the majority of teens (close to 70%) have not had sex. Conversely, SRA equips teens to withstand peer pressure and refrain from risk sexual behavior, helping improve their prospects of reaching positive future outcomes. Studies show that in states that teach Sexual Risk Avoidance, the teen birth rate is lower.
Every year, the PRC teaches Reality Check to hundreds of middle and high school students across Utah through public schools, charter schools, homeschool groups, and youth groups. In the 2024 school year, the number of students that were taught through the Reality Check program was over 1,800, and we are currently recommended as the top provider in Granite School District.
Topics Taught:

Pregnancy Services
In the PRC’s second stage of care, our licensed medical professionals and trained patient consultants provide compassionate care to women as they navigate an unplanned or unsupported pregnancy.
For many women, an unplanned pregnancy is an overwhelming and unsettling experience. We seek to provide each woman with comprehensive information about all her options, as well as resources and referrals to meet her individual needs. Our appointments are designed to empower women with knowledge and support. She deserves to understand her options, know she is not alone, and that there is hope.
Too often in our culture, women are told abortion is the obvious solution to an unexpected pregnancy; it’s the only way for them to be happy and achieve their goals; or that an abortion will make their “problem” go away.
Women are told an abortion can be as simple and painless as taking a set of pills and forgetting their pregnancy ever happened.
Many times, women are pressured into an abortion decision by those closest to them. Rather than receiving support from those they trust, they are left feeling hopeless and alone – unable to become a mother.
The PRC combats these lies and the lack of support by providing every woman with the professional care, resources, and HOPE she deserves.
Services offered:
- Lab-grade pregnancy testing
- Limited ultrasound exams for pregnancy confirmation
- Limited STI testing
- Life-affirming information on available options
- Access to dozens of community referrals and resources
- Follow-up appointments with ongoing care
The PRC is looking for female volunteers with a medical background, or those who are willing to compassionately listen to the women we serve and offer support. Training is provided.

Parenting Resources
The PRC’s third stage of care is for women and men who have chosen to embark upon the wonderful journey of parenthood.
Expectant mothers and fathers can join our bi-monthly, earn-while-you-learn, Life Steps Pregnancy and Parenting Classes which are offered in both English and Spanish.
These classes provide educational and material support in a group setting where parents get to connect with others who are in a similar stage of life. Groups are led by trained and experienced mentors who offer practical guidance, as well as emotional and spiritual care.
The PRC is looking for volunteer parenting mentors—male or female, English or Spanish speaking—who are experienced and ready to walk alongside moms and dads as they prepare for this new season. Training is provided.
Additionally, the PRC provides tangible support to parents in our Life Steps classes. You can directly impact the life of a family today when donating items to the PRC. Check out our wish lists today.

During Life Steps, moms and dads learn about healthy pregnancy expectations, infant care, hygiene and safety, along with healthy communication and parenting skills.
The decision to keep their baby was likely a difficult one, and the families we serve often lack healthy role models. Having a supportive community at the PRC to walk with them throughout their pregnancy and beyond is transformational and empowering.
In addition to our parenting classes, the PRC offers support specifically for fathers. We’ve seen how the men involved in an unplanned pregnancy rarely have someone they can talk with or receive sound advice from. The PRC has created a Stepping Up Fatherhood Program specifically designed for expectant dads to be able to navigate their thoughts and concerns, and to confidently prepare for the life-changing role of fatherhood.
Experienced fatherhood mentors encourage and instruct male clients in practical skills on how to serve their families. Our Stepping Up mentors care about the physical, emotional, and spiritual welfare of these expectant fathers. It is important that fathers, as well as mothers, know and feel that they’re not alone. The PRC’s fatherhood program provides a space for men to find a supportive community of other men – often for the very first time.

Pregnancy Loss Recovery and Support
The PRC’s fourth stage of care is for women who are experiencing the pain and regret of a past abortion. Whether an abortion was last month, last year, or decades ago, the PRC’s Pathway to Hope is a biblically-based program that leads women into the lasting forgiveness and healing only Jesus can bring.
Abortion regret is not rare.
Many women silently suffer with feelings of ongoing grief, shame, despair, and a feeling that their abortion is unforgiveable.
The PRC’s compassionate, trained abortion recovery facilitators are equipped to guide other women on their journey toward healing without judgement or shame in a safe and confidential setting.
If you or someone you know has experienced the pain of a past abortion, the PRC is here to provide you with compassionate care toward a future filled with hope and restoration.
If you have experienced healing in Christ after a past abortion and have a heart to lead women into this same freedom, consider becoming an abortion recovery facilitator.
